At least 30 people were injured and one person may have died after a Metrolink train struck a vehicle in Ventura County early Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred near East 5th Street and South Rice Avenue (map) in Oxnard, an official with the Ventura County Fire Department said.

It was reported around 5:45 a.m., Oxnard police Sgt. Denise Shadinger said.

The fire official said fatalities had been found inside the truck that had been struck, but Shadinger later said the police department did not know of any fatalities. She confirmed at least 30 were injured.

The driver of a vehicle involved in the wreck fled the scene and was later located and taken into custody, Oxnard fire Battalion Chief Sergio Martinez told CNN. Further details were not immediately available.
